Designed to complement the widely-acclaimed shelter range created for Adshel by leading American architect, Richard Meier, the Metropolis Public Information Unit combines striking aesthetic design with solid and robust street-wise engineering.
The Metropolis unit provides a high standard of presentation, and creates a bright and visually attractive reference point in the street. Its back-illuminated poster site enables the municipality to communicate easily with its residents.
A battery collection point that allows the public to deposit used mobile phone and lithium batteries can be integrated into the unit.
The structure and fixings are stable and corrosion-resistant to varying climatic conditions. In addition all construction materials, finishes and fixings are proofed against attack from chemicals and other substances likely to be encountered in a public roadside environment. Toughened safety glass is the standard door glazing material. All the equipment, including a photoelectric cell to conserve power during daylight hours, is securely fixed inside the enclosures. The design also incorporates new anti-vandal locks to deter unauthorised entry.
